At Andover State Bank, we believe being a community bank means showing up for the communities we call home. Sometimes that means helping a customer reach a financial goal. Other times, it means picking up a hammer and getting to work.
Recently, members of the ASB team had the opportunity to spend part of their weekend volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and helping with the construction of a local home.
For our team, it was a chance to step outside of our usual routines, work alongside others, and contribute to something that will make a lasting difference for a local family. It’s also an example of what community involvement means to us: showing up, lending a hand, and investing our time in the places we call home.
From Banking to Building
Our employees traded their typical work attire for work gloves and tools as they helped with different parts of the home-building process.
Construction takes a team. Building a home with Habitat for Humanity requires skilled tradespeople, future homeowners, community partners, donors, and volunteers all working toward the same goal. Every person brings something different to the project, and every contribution helps move the work forward.
We were proud to have several members of our team roll up their sleeves and be part of it.
One volunteer day may not build an entire house—but when people come together and each do their part, those individual efforts can add up to something pretty meaningful.
Why a Home Matters
A home is more than four walls and a roof.
It’s a place to feel secure, make memories, and plan for the future. That’s part of what makes Habitat for Humanity’s mission so meaningful.
As a community bank, we see firsthand how important a stable home can be for individuals and families.
Homeownership is a major financial goal for many people, and being able to support Habitat’s work gives our team an opportunity to contribute in a very hands-on way.
Our Team Outside the Bank
We’re proud of the work our employees do for our customers every day, but we’re just as proud to see them give their time and talent outside of the bank.
Community involvement is one of the ways we get to know our neighbors, support organizations doing important work, and be part of something bigger than ourselves.
Volunteering might look different from one organization or community to the next. It could mean:
- Sponsoring a local event
- Supporting a local school
- Donating to a nonprofit
- Volunteering with a community organization
- Giving your time and skills to a local project
And sometimes, it’s spending a Saturday with a hammer in your hand.
